The Bargains Group held their annual "Project Water" campaign on July 6, 2005.  They distribute hundreds, if not thousands, of cases of bottled water to frontline groups for distribution to the less fortunate.  We participated in this event and distributed over 200 bottles of water on July 15.

The Bargains Group and Hockey for the Homeless held their annual "Secret Santa" event on January 22, 2005.  At this event they distribute "survival kits" at no charge  to outreach groups for them to distribute to the less fortunate.

PHP attended this event and received 10 kits for distribution to the homeless.  Each kit contained:

Many THANKS goes out to the Bargains Group and Hockey for the Homeless for making this possible!!

We currently purchase a majority of our clothing and hygiene items from:

They are a superb organization and a model for others to follow.  Their main business is for-profit, but they devote a considerable amount of time and resources to helping non-profits.  To find out more about them, click on the logo above to visit their site.  If you are looking to do business with them, be proud that you will be supporting a business who contributes so much to the community.

Here is a photo of items we purchased from the Bargains Group for our runs:

We recently purchased 72 pairs of Thinsulate gloves from Bailey's Home Hardware at Ellesmere/Victoria Park in Scarborough.  These are excellent quality gloves that we have distributed in the past with good feedback.  Although the purchase drained a lot of our funds, they will hopefully last us throughout the winter season.

Donate Blood

An excellent way to get involved with a dramatic impact, is donating blood. Personally, I have been donating every 6 weeks (the maximum allowed) since the beginning of 2004.  I was always hesitant because I thought it would impact my weight-training regimen, but I find that it actually benefits it!!  You can find more information at:
